Boutique hotel cashes in on the act

This month, one boutique hotel is taking advantage of all the predicted sunshine and utilising its rooftop garden, playing host to a summer season of open air Shakespeare.

The Varsity Hotel in Cambridge is offering visitors the chance to see performances of The Taming of the Shrew, as well recitals of Shakespeare’s Sonnets, in front of a backdrop of panoramic views overlooking the city for two weeks in August. Guests will then sit down to enjoy a three-course dinner at the hotel’s in-house restaurant, The River Bar Steakhouse.

Curated by the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival, organisers have been delighted to partner with the 49-bedroom boutique hotel, and are hoping it’ll help encourage even more visitors to the event.
