Brighton gets set for new boutique hotel as development site is acquired in the city

A site in Brighton has been snapped up by an investment company, who plans to develop the location into a 133-bedroom hotel in the city.

Flude Commercial acted in the acquisition of 78 West Street, Brighton by Silvercoin Investments Ltd.

The site comprises a substantial former nightclub which has been mainly vacant for the past 10 years.

Planning consent was secured in 2016 for the redevelopment of the site for a 133-bedroom hotel with facilities.

Tunbridge Wells-based development consultants, Decimus Ltd, advised Silvercoin on the site with the intention of developing the hotel during the next 18 months.

As well as the hotel, the proposed development includes retail and restaurant space.

Andrew Halfacree at Flude Commercial commented: “This is a significant city centre site in a popular central location. The redevelopment of this site will bring a much needed enhancement of the location. In turn we will see the provision of further high quality hotel accommodation for the city and improved vibrancy to both the West Street and Middle Street frontages of this site.”
