Despite being hit hard by the Covid-19 outbreak, hoteliers in Bristol are finding ways to stay connected amid the crisis.
The Bristol Hoteliers Association, which represents 40 major hotels in the city, is hosting weekly conference calls among its general managers, to share feedback, experiences and ideas as the government advises for all ‘non-essential’ businesses to close.
Prior to the announcement last night from the Prime Minister, the BHA said that occupancy levels among its members fell to 30% in March, less than half the average usually achieved for this month.
Raphael Herzog, BHA Chair, has been in contact with Bristol North West MP Thangam Debbonaire about the impact of the virus on the hospitality industry.
The Bristol Hoteliers Association represents 40 major hotels in the city, with around 4,000 rooms. Hotels put an estimated £200 million into the local economy.
