Brothers snap up Derby hotel and sink money into refurb ready for Christmas rush

Lawns Hotel

Two brothers in Derby are well underway with a refurbishment project at a hotel to be ready in time for Christmas, following their acquisition of the property in September.

Russell and Tony Watson took over The Lawns Hotel in Chellaston at the end of last month, after the property had been up for sale since 2018 with an asking price of £1m.

Now they are investing in a refurbishment at the hotel to bring it into the modern day, starting with the restaurant which they hope to have ready in time for the festive rush.

Once the restaurant is complete they will look to redesign the bar area, function room and 15 bedrooms.

Speaking to the Derbyshire Telegraph, Mr Watson said there will be a new menu designed by the in-house chef, although the details of it are yet to be finalised.

Once the restaurant is done, Mr Watson said they will take it “stage by stage” as they refurbish the whole property.
