Business enhancements on the cards for Spalding hotel under new ownership

A hotel in Spalding has come under new ownership this month, who now plan to enhance the business and further strengthen its trade.

Cley Hall, a 18th century boutique with 16 bedrooms, has been owned by David Stanbridge and Andrew Robb for the past six years, who are now handing over to Gurnake and Olga Cheema.

The Cheemas took over ownership of the building, which was on the market for £695k, on March 15.

Nikki Deans, who has been general manager for the past two years, will continue in her role.

David and Andrew took over the property in 2011 and then dragged it ‘kicking and screaming’ into the 21st century, in a bid to bring business back to the hotel.

The pair has also featured on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed, which they won, and have put a lot of hard work and effort into developing the product.

Now they are planning to semi-retire, and will move out to Italy to start a new B&B in Puglia.

David said: “Well the time has come to hang up our feather dusters, cooking full English breakfasts and meeting and greeting guests to Cley Hall, which the majority of local people have such an affinity with.

“We are so pleased that Cley Hall is going to continue as a hotel having been bought by Mr and Mrs Cheema.
