Chris and Alison Wilson have been running the Balmer Lawn Hotel & Spa for over 23 years. They purchased the venue in the New Forest back in 1997, having been drawn to its appeal and endless possibilities amidst a backdrop of rural beauty, close to the south coast.
In that time, they have transformed the hotel from a three- to a four-star venue, with 4 silver stars for its facilities, 2 AA rosettes for its kitchen, and a leading destination for weddings and corporate conferences.
The couple have recently won the New Forest Business of the Year award and the Totton College Award for Training and Development at the New Forest Business Partnership’s Brilliance in Business Awards.
In addition, they have just announced a £4m plan to increase the hotel’s capacity by 38 rooms, double the Beaulieu function room capacity to 120, combine its current Saltus Spa with the leisure club, plant 100 new trees, and create 12 new jobs. The dynamic duo believe the ambitious new plan is the next step to ensure the sustainability of the hotel for the next 50 years.
