The Cairn Group signs franchise agreement to convert The Majestic Hotel

The Majestic Hotel Harrogate is to be converted into the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate by the end of 2019.

The Cairn Group has signed a franchise agreement with Hilton, which will see a £15m refurbishment programme carried out across the property.

Work has already begun on upgrading the Victorian hotel and once complete, will include 170 new-look guestrooms, fitness facilities, a spa and pool and conference and events space for up to 500.

Aneil Handa, director, Cairn Group, said: “We are excited to announce that the highly regarded DoubleTree by Hilton brand is coming to Harrogate. This partnership will enhance our iconic hotel’s current offering and we are very much looking forward to working with Hilton and seeing the finished results.”

For meetings and events, there will be six boardrooms and nine conference and events suites.

The hotel will also receive a boost to its restaurant offerings, which will include a champagne bar and restaurant, lounge bar, terrace and private dining room.

The hotel is currently part of The Cairn Collection, a hand-picked portfolio of Cairn Group hotels. The Cairn Hotel Group is a family-owned business headquartered in Newcastle, with 50-years’ experience in the industry. The hotel will continue to be owned and operated by The Cairn Group and will create a number of new jobs at all levels.
