Cliveden, a name  synonymous with elegant decadence, has had its own wine list included in the world’s leading wine publication’s three-star category featuring restaurants from around the world.

It was one of 225 chosen by World of Fine Wines from more than 4,000 nominations.

The Maidenhead Advertiser reports Cliveden’s director of wine, Oscar Malek as saying: "To receive such recognition for the team’s hard work means an awful lot and we are looking forward now to further strengthening Cliveden wine list over the coming months.

"I would love for the hotel to be at the forefront of a movement that sees the UK wine scene placed firmly on the world map."

Each wine is critically appraised on its own merits, ensuring that, in addition to the grand marques, there are also wines from lesser known regions meaning the list is never predictable but always reassuring, says the hotel.

The Taplow, Berkshire, hotel is surrounded by 376 acres of magnificent National Trust managed Grade I listed formal gardens and parkland and panoramic views over the River Thames.
