Co-owner of Welsh Rarebits Collection sells hotel asset near Abergavenny

Llansantffraed Court

The co-owner and director of marketing consortium, Welsh Rarebits Collection, has sold his country house hotel near Abergavenny after more than 20 years of ownership.

Mike Morgan acquired Llansantffraed Court, close to Brecon Beacons national park, in 1996 and is now choosing to ‘hand over the reins to somebody else’ to focus on growing WRC, which comprises a portfolio of almost 40 luxury hotels in Wales.

The Grade-II listed property has 21 bedrooms, sitting in 19 acres with a lake, walled garden, glass house with a helipad.

While its origins date back to 1670, the main building was constructed in the mid-1800s.

Morgan commented: “After 23 years, I just felt that the time was right to hand over the reins to someone else, and to focus my energy on my other business interests.

“But I am delighted that the sale has gone through and that a new chapter is about to begin for this grand property.”

Peter Brunt, Head of Hotels Agency at Colliers International, said: ‘’We’ll watch with interest to see what the future holds, the property has a great presence unique to Monmouthshire.

“The previous owners have successfully run the property and now is the opportunity for the next chapter in its long history.

“The raise in popularity of these types of properties for wedding venues and exclusive hire events was demonstrated by the considerable interest received.”
