Construction has begun at the very first Bike and Boot hotel in Scarborough, a new concept from founders Simon Rhatigan and Simon Kershaw.
Infiniti Roofing & Construction has started the six-month conversion of the former 50-bedroom The Mount Hotel into the new revitalized 65-bedroom Bike and Boot hotel on Scarborough waterfront, with 20 local tradesmen working on the project.
Working alongside interior designer Rachel McLane Ltd, the refurbishment includes new high end bathrooms, with new showers and toilets, plus new carpets and decor in all 65 rooms, as well as the creation of a new in-house hotel cinema, E-bike charging stations, dog and boot wash, and refurbished bar, restaurant and kitchen areas.
“This is an incredibly exciting project for us,” said Marcus Rowe, director of Infiniti Roofing & Construction, part of the Infiniti Group, “and is an indication of the kind of high quality construction work that Infiniti Roofing & Construction aims to be involved with. There are already plenty of hotels in Scarborough and North Yorkshire, but nothing at all like this – it will be truly spectacular.”
Plans first emerged in January that Rhatigan, former managing director at Devonshire Hotels and Restaurant until 2016, and Kershaw, ex-chairman of the northern region of the British Hospitality Association, had purchased The Mount Hotel in Scarborough, to kickstart their new Bike and Boot hospitality brand.
Bike & Boot founders, Simon Rhatigan and Simon Kershaw, said: “We are very excited to be launching this new hotel concept and feel this beautiful site in Scarborough is the ideal location to get started. Our hope is that Bike and Boot will offer a unique escape for not only tourists but also for locals who might wish to visit the restaurant or cinema.”
The duo plan to open a total of four hotels under the new brand, with their second site, a new-build 80-bedroom hotel in the Peak District expected to be complete in 2020.
