The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow has made two major appointments ahead of its much anticipated £1m transformation project, which starts imminently.
Thomas Copp and Russ Sparke have been appointed by the Ludlow hotel as conservation consultant and designer respectively.
Crest Hotels completed the purchase of The Feathers in December, 2018.
The 40-bedroom, three-star hotel had been closed since August 2018 following a fatal outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease.
Crest is now investing more than £1m to re-position the property, which includes a makeover to public areas, bedrooms and the function suite, as well as new plumbing throughout.
A new food concept will also be introduced, the addition of a new tea room and restaurant, which aims to achieve accreditation with two AA Rosettes within six months of opening.
New appointments Copp and Sparke will form a new strategic partnership team, working with the management team at Crest Hotels, to ensure the hotel’s makeover complies with conservation rules that are currently placed on the Grade I listed building.
Jason Hiley, group operations director at Crest Hotels, who own The Feathers Hotel, said: “Both Thomas and Russ will provide invaluable experience and expertise to the renovation of The Feathers.
“The building dates back to 1619 and is much loved, not only by the people of Ludlow but throughout the country and we want to preserve as much of the original features and identity as possible with the refurbishment. To help us realise our vision, we have made two high quality appointments who will help give the hotel a new lease of life for what we hope is many, many more years to come.”
RSD Interiors, headed up by Russ Sparke, have worked with global brands such as Hilton, IHG and Accor hotels for over 30 years.
