Dalata Hotel Group has signed a deal to bring a new hotel in Manchester by 2021.
The group is to open the four-star, 276-bedroom Maldron Hotel in three years’ time, following a construction project subject to planning permission approval from the City Council.
Ireland’s largest operator will build the hotel next to the Circle Square mixed-use regeneration scheme on the former BBC Oxford Road site, which will become the third property in the city for the group.
Dalata has signed a 35-year operating lease on the new property, which will comprise a bar, restaurant and meeting room facilities.
It will join the Clayton hotel at Manchester Airport and another sit under development under the same brand on Portland Street.
The news of Maldron Hotel Manchester comes after the group posted improved revenue for the six months to June 20, 2018, with income rising from €163.3m to €180.6m. Pre-tax profits were also up from €32.7 to €35.4m.
Chief executive Pat McCann said: “2018 has been very positive to date for Dalata through a combination of strong earnings growth and the opening of a significant number of new hotel rooms.
“I am looking forward to the remainder of 2018 when we will strive to ensure that the strong momentum of the first eight months continues, as well as being fully prepared for 2019 and the years beyond.”
