Derelict stable block to become five new bedrooms at Lancaster hotel as business builds

The owners of a Grade-II listed hotel in Lancaster city centre have submitted plans to convert a derelict stable block on site into five new bedrooms, three years after first taking on the business.

The Robinson family, who acquired the Royal Hotel and Bar in 2016 will invest £800k into the new project which will take the total number of bedrooms at the property to 14.

Director Kim Robinson said that the business had been declining for a number of years prior to the family’s takeover and immediately embarked on a refurbishment when they took over to help turn business around.

She says: “Ultimately, we’re building a business to pass onto future generations of the Robinson family and we’re looking forward to welcoming both locals and tourists for many years to come.”
