Developer acquires Liverpool’s Beetham Plaza and lays plans for £10m boutique hotel

A new boutique hotel could be coming to Liverpool’s Beetham Plaza after it was acquired in a multi-million pound deal by developer Elliot Group.

The group has purchased the long leasehold of the mixed-use Plaza to develop into a new hotel as part of a reported £10m project.

The hotel would be operated by EPIC, who recently opened a new property on Seel Street.

The site, which was completed in the 1990s, includes 42 apartments, restaurants Etsu and Silk Road, offices and an underground car park.

They all surround a square which is home to Richard Huws’s Piazza Fountain, a hydraulic structure that uses kinetic energy to fill a series of buckets with water.

Elliot Group is proposing to relocate the ‘bucket fountain’ to make space for the new hotel which will be designed by Falconer Chester Hall.

If given the go ahead, the offices, restaurant and apartments would remain unchanged, while the hotel would be a new build, also home to a ground-floor restaurant and cafe space.
