Developers hype up new plans to transform Birmingham nightclub into new boutique hotel

A proposal has been submitted to transform the former Snobs nightclub in Birmingham city centre into a new 130-bedroom boutique hotel.

New plans have been lodged to convert the Beneficial Building in Paradise Circus Queensway into a new hotel with retail and commercial units on the ground floor.

The applicant is Beneficial House (Birmingham) Regeneration LLP, a company incorporated in 2013 and which lists 95 members on the Government’s Companies House website.

The building has been largely vacant since 2008 when its previous owners fell into administration. It was home to Snobs nightclub until September 2014, before owners closed and moved to a new location nearby.

Several applications have been previously lodged and approved for the complex including a mix hotel rooms and serviced apartments.

But now this new plan has the backing of a number of high profile figures.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and five-time Olympic rowing champion Sir Steve Redgrave are all among the investors backing the regeneration of the building.

No end user of the hotel has been named in the newly submitted planning application.
