Dumfries hotel bought by expanding operator as Scotland remains ‘attractive’ for buyers

Carrutherstown’s Hetland Hall Hotel has a new owner after being sold to RAD Hotels Group, who had ambitious plans to expand across the region.

Set in 18 acres of private grounds, the 30-bed country house hotel has been snapped up by the group, which currently operates four other hotels in Scotland and is keen to grow further.

The property is a popular wedding venue as well as being a hit with locals and the conference market.

It was previously owned by Lady Glen Hotels who made the strategic sale in order to concentrate on its two existing central Scotland properties.

Stuart Drysdale, associate director at Christie & Co is handling the sale of the hotel and says: “RAD Hotel Group is keen to expand their portfolio across Scotland with well-positioned hotels, generally focusing on the wedding market.

“Hetland Hall will now be refurbished and continue with its excellent reputation as a wedding venue.

“Good commercial hotels in this area of Scotland remain attractive as they offer buyers a varied income stream incorporating accommodation and food and beverage sales. Well-run businesses continue to attract interest and we anticipate this continuing into 2017.”
