Barry Soars has been appointed as restaurant general manager at the five-star Athenaeum Hotel, fresh from a role at Soho Farmhouse.
Soars was previously working at Pen Yen, the fine-dining Japanese Restaurant as well as the Main Barn at Soho Farmhouse, but admits he ‘really wanted to work in London’ when the position at the Athenaeum came up.
He was also previously general manager at Fire Station Restaurant in Cheltenham.
Soars will now look after the hotel’s restaurants, which include Galvin at The Athenaeum, the Michelin-starred eatery London chefs Chris and Jeff.
“Like most contemporary hotel restaurants, the challenge is to produce excellence in service and food offering from those first early morning guests through lunch and afternoon tea right up to the last couple lingering over a nightcap. It’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to,” he comments.
