The new owners of Falmouth’s Chelsea House Hotel are vowing to give the property a complete redesign as they take the helm of their new venture.
Nigel Sillis and his partner Sharon Retson recently bought the nine-bed business after opting for a complete career change.
Mr Sillis was previously a director of hair care giant Vidal Sassoon’s UK business and he intends to use his creative expertise to give the interior a makeover without compromising the building’s history.
The property is currently closed while the refurbishment takes place but will be fully open with all rooms available from 1 May 2016.
The couple have moved from Northamptonshire to run the business and hope they can establish a hotel experience that leads to guests returning time and again.
Ms Retson told local press: “We’re completely updating the business in terms of technology, services and accommodation. The refurbishment, while it’s pretty comprehensive, is mainly redesign and we look forward to welcoming our first guests in early summer.”
Reports said the deal to acquire the hotel was negotiated by Miller’s Commercial’s Chartered Surveyors from a guide price of £750,000.
The hotel’s origins can be traced back to 1908 when it was built as the home of a Dutch packet ship captain.
