Restaurant with rooms, Moor Hall in Lancashire, saw business increase by 30% over the 2018 Christmas period following the securing of its second Michelin star.

The destination restaurant, run and co-owned by chef Mark Birchall, saw a boost in dining numbers last year after gaining its second star just 12 months after being awarded its first.

Speaking to Boutique Hotelier, Birchall said that stars ‘definitely still make a difference’ and said the festive period of 2018 had been really busy as a result.

Birchall made the move from L’Enclume in Cumbria to open Moor Hall, after a decade working with Simon Rogan, relocating back to his home county of Lancashire.

“There is definitely more room for quality restaurants here,” he tells BH, “and I always had the aspiration to open a place in my home county.”

Moor Hall opened to the public in 2017, following an extension renovation project spearheaded by Birchall and co-owners Andy and Tracy Bell.

The restaurant with rooms comprises seven bedrooms, with planning permission for a selection of treehouses and lodges due to be submitted soon.

The restaurant at Moor Hall features an eight-course tasting menu and is open for business from Wednesday through to Sunday evenings.
