Family boutique business gets another member with the launch of new Dublin hotel due in 2018

Family hoteliers in Ireland have expanded their portfolio with the announcement of a new boutique hotel on Dublin’s Harcourt Street, due to open in early 2018.

Brian and Sally McGill will launch Iveagh Garden Hotel next year following the transformation of the former Pinebrook House offices into a new 152-bedroom boutique.

The four-star hotel, set across six storeys, will be the sixth hotel to open on the street and joins the neighbouring Harcourt Hotel and Harrington Hall in the McGill portfolio.

The 56,000 st ft space has been completely renovated with two new storeys added and is home to an ‘underground river’ that flows 50 metres below the hotel and acts as an energy reserve for cooling and heating the hotel without burning fuel.

The hotel’s main energy supply heating system is generated entirely on site.

Alongside the 152 bedrooms, there will also be a ground floor bar and bistro, with a second bar and eatery planned for mid 2018. There will also be a function room that can accommodate up to 300.

The development, which is being spearheaded by the McGill family siblings including Danielle, Jennifer, Katie, Michelle and Barney, who are all actively involved in the management of the sister hotels and the DTwo and The Black Door nightclubs.

John Pardy, formerly of the Shannon Oaks Hotel, has been appointed as general manager.
