The Janse Van Rensburg family took over the property in 2013 and carried out a major refurbishment later that year, prior to repositioning the business and subsequently rebranding to Hebasca.

After five years they have sold the hotel to concentrate on other business interests.

Arranged over three floors, Hebasca features 23 bedrooms, as well as a vibrant cocktail bar and a grill restaurant.

Externally, landscaped gardens and a terrace provide seating for 60 guests, which is popular during the summer months.

New owner, Alan Rees, managing director of Ascena Developments Ltd comments, “Ascena Developments Ltd are pleased to announce the purchase of Hebasca Hotel Bude. The team at Ascena Developments are looking forward to working with the local community, suppliers and guests of Hebasca Hotel and continuing with the dedicated team, standards and service the previous owners lovingly implemented.”

Matthew Smith, director at Christie & Co’s Bristol office handled the sale and comments, “The new owner, Alan Rees, was quick to identify the up-side in a business that has had considerable investment and was able to move at pace to conclude the transaction. We wish Alan and his team all the success with the next phase of the business.”
