Operated by: Bespoke Hotels
Opening: February 2020
Hotel group Bespoke Hotels is to invest £45m into creating a new hotel in Manchester, which will pay homage to the ‘golden age of New York City’.
The owners of Hotel Gotham are to build the new Big Apple-themed property on Portland Street, adjacent to the Townhouse Hotel, with the aim to launch Hotel Brooklyn in February 2020 as the sister to the successful property.
The hotel will comprise 189 bedrooms and a rooftop bar called Brooklyn Heights, as well as Runyon’s restaurant, inspired by the short stories and plays of Broadway writer Damon Runyon.
The construction is being spearheaded by Marshall CDP, with the interior design overseen by Squid Inc who were also responsible for the look of the Art Deco-influenced Hotel Gotham on King Street, which opened in 2015 and has been a huge success since.
Paul Bayliss was appointed general manager earlier this year, joining from his role as managing director at Macdonald Hotels’ Highlands division and Aviemore Resort since August 2018.
Graham Marskell, managing director of operations for Bespoke Hotels added: “We have enjoyed an extremely positive response from the local market since launching Hotel Gotham, and we hope to maintain this momentum when Brooklyn opens its doors in early 2020.”
