Finish line in sight for refurbishment at Greene King’s Royal Hotel

Work on refurbishing the Royal Hotel in Scunthorpe is nearing completion, with the second phase of work expected to be finished next week.

Scunthorpe’s second oldest hotel reopened in December following a £450k investment by the owners Greene King brewery, and now the second and final phase of renovations is almost complete.

The 28-bedroom hotel is remaining under the Good Night Inns name, but the brand will change from John Barras to Golden Oak Inns.

The first phase of development started on November 21 and saw the bedrooms given an uplift and the restaurant expanded.

Now the function room has gone under the knife and will be unveiled during the first week in February.

Diners and drinkers at The Royal have been promised an upgraded menu, a new premium range of drinks including extra real ales, as well as brand-new furniture and decor.
