First Ace Hotel outside US opens in London’s Shoreditch

The first Ace Hotel outside of the US opened in Shoreditch, London yesterday (September 9).

Formerly a Crowne Plaza, the Ace Hotel London Shoreditch underwent a renovation led by locally-based architecture and interior-design practice Universal Design Studio.

It is UDS’ first hotel project, following on from a portfolio of global retail and exhibition design and has an emphasis on the local community in line with Ace Hotel’s brand values.

The hotel includes a 100-cover restaurant by Bistrotheque‘s Pablo Flack and David Waddington on the ground floor and a 50-capacity adjoining bar, expected to open in early October.

Other ground-level facilities include a cafe serving Square Mile coffee, gallery space, a flower shop by local florist Hattie Fox, Lovage juice bar and a communal long table for those wishing to take a break.

The ground floor is a hallmark of Ace Hotel, designed to act as a space for guests as well as the local community to gather and interact.

The opening of Ace Hotel London Shoreditch brings the group’s portfolio of unique, industrial-design hotels to seven, located in East London, New York, Downtown LA, Palm Springs, Portland, Seattle and Panama.
