Boutique hotel group Malmaison Hotel du Vin has revealed that the Avon Gorge Hotel is set to be unveiled as ‘The Avon Gorge by Hotel du Vin’ from spring 2018.
A major investment programme is currently underway to restore the property, with the first stage, including the newly-designed bedrooms now complete.
A new general manager has also been appointed, with Josie Simcox coming on board to head up the launch. She joins having spent a number of years as general manager at Malmaison, most recently in London.
Once open, the property will join Hotel du Vin at Sugar House as the second hotel in the portfolio in Bristol.
Working closely with interior designers, feature walls have been decorated with deep teals and navies, or feature intricate wallpaper.
Wooden furniture and splashes of vibrant contrasting colour have been combined with artwork to reflect a British humour to give the rooms a contemporary classic feel.
Nick Halliday, chief operating officer at Hotel du Vin, commented: “Over the last 12 months we have worked tirelessly to restore and reinvigorate this iconic hotel. It’s been a fantastic journey – we’re almost there now and we can’t wait to share the full results with the local community and hotel guests, new and old.”
