Over the past year work has been ongoing to transform the whole Grade-II listed property and following a soft opening period, it officially relaunched on May 1. The Great House was acquired alongside the 34-bedroom Newbury Manor and then went on to open the Coppa Club in 2015, a combined restaurant, bar and lounge space. The Great House was acquired in December 2013 by Sun Capital Partners SCP, headed up by Hugh Osmond, before Sinclair Beecham – co-founder of Pret a Manager and the Hoxton hotel – joined the business in 2014 and it was renamed Mudlark Hotels. The hotel’s events space, The Lodge opened on April 1. The space is made up of five interconnecting rooms that can cater for meetings, weddings and other functions.
