The Bird, Bath on Pulteney Road has opened a new Christmas Tavern for the city, to coincide with the opening of the Bath Christmas Market.
A more grown up take on last year’s Winter Wonderland setting, the festive retreat has been created by the hotel’s owners Ian and Christa Taylor, who acquired the hotel in March 2018.
The space comes complete with tree-lined walkways and snow-capped mountain scenes, plus the log-cabin style venue with vast fireplace surround, laden with decorations and twinkling fairy lights.
The festive food offering ranges from seasonal snacks – think turkey and cranberry sausage rolls and creamy parsnip soup – to Christmas afternoon teas, sourdough pizzas and sweet treats such as warm mince pies with Bailey’s cream and churros with spiced cinnamon sugar, while cocktails will take their cue from the classics with a Christmassy twist.
“We could have stuck with the same theme, but we really wanted to change a few things with last year’s concept,” said The Bird’s owner, Ian Taylor. “Giving locals and visitors something new for 2019 keeps it fun and exciting for everyone, and this year’s Christmas Tavern is cosy and relaxed, while still going all out on the festive décor.”
