Former Claridge’s chef acquires and refurbishes Cheshire boutique hotel

Alexandra Court Hotel – Outside

A former chef at London hotel Claridge’s has used a six-figure funding boost from HSBC to acquire and refurbish a hotel in Cheshire.

Andrew Bourne has used the investment to take over the Alexandra Court Hotel in Congleton and open a new outdoor space, sitting area and give the hotel’s 14 bedrooms a completely new look.

He is hoping the funding will help raise the profile of the hotel as a ‘bespoke events location’ in the UK.

Since the acquisition, Alexandra Court has gained a ‘number one’ rating on TripAdvisor.

Andrew Bourne, owner of the Alexandra Court Hotel, said: “I’ve admired Alexandra Court for a very long time, so was thrilled that the financial backing and guidance from HSBC UK has allowed us to acquire this impressive hotel and bring the location back to its best. We aim to provide affordable luxury accommodation for the area and create a unique boutique venue for family celebrations and business meetings. It’s a beautiful property, set against a stunning landscaped garden, and we look forward to welcoming guests for the next chapter of the Hotel’s story.”

John Paulson, relationship manager for South Cheshire and North Staffordshire, HSBC UK, added: “HSBC UK is committed to supporting the growth of local businesses in Greater Manchester and beyond, so we’re pleased to be backing the Alexandra Court Hotel through our dedicated lending fund.”
