Former Lucky Onion owners announce new hospitality venture in Yorkshire

Sam and Georgie Pearman, the former owners of the Lucky Onion group of pubs with rooms in the Cotswolds, have announced their next venture in the hotel industry.

The couple, who left Lucky Onion in 2017, have created Country Creatures UK and will relaunch the 26-bedroom, 17th century riverside hunting lodge and coaching inn, The Talbot in Malton in February 2019.

The Pearmans have been working with Tom Naylor-Leyland over the last six months, whose family have owned the hotel for many years.

Making the announcement via her Instagram, Georgie Pearman said the hotel will close in January and reopen for business under its new guise in February.

The first phase of the refurbishment will see a new bar and restaurant redesigned and a feasting room created, where new head chef Robert Brittain will work with Sam to create the menus.

The restaurant at The Talbot was previously overseen by well-known chef James Martin from 2012 to 2015.

The second phase will see the 26 bedrooms and suites relaunched.
