This year’s General Manager of the Year has been announced as Andrew Nightingale from The Montagu Arms.
Andrew has led the team at the Montagu Arms which has seen the hotel achieve an AA Inspectors’ Choice 4 Red Star Status at the AA awards. This is the first time a Greenclose Hotel has achieved four red stars in its long history.
Since January 2019, he has been supporting a new Head Chef who has brought with him his passion for creating innovative new dishes and has achieved 3 AA Rosettes in his own right.
Andrew is also mentoring and developing the hotel’s Deputy General Manager Jeremy who has climbed through the ranks and helped develop him from Assistant Manager to DGM in a short space of time.
The hotel is currently undergoing a development and refurbishment programme and Andrew has been responsible for overseeing the project and budget of circa £260K expenditure on 10 bedrooms; this has attracted a growth in revenue per available room of £7 per room in the first 6 months.
Shortly after joining as GM, he embarked on launching two new luxury suites targeting the premium, high end market. The project was taken from conceptual idea right through the planning stages overcoming complex planning challenges and adhering to English Heritage guidelines.
