Gleddoch House Hotel
Scheduled opening date: April 2016
Number of bedrooms: 75

Gleddoch House Hotel in Scotland was purchased in June by the Johal family of Nottingham, and the acquisition marked the second for the family business owners.

The historic property, consisting of 75 bedrooms and located on the outskirts of Glasgow, is now being completely overhauled by its new owners, who already own and run the hugely successful St James Hotel in Nottingham.

The property, which includes an 18-hole golf course and spa, was once a favourite of royalty and celebrities given its features and picturesque position in the hills overlooking the river Clyde.

Originally built as the family home of Sir William Lithgow in the 1920s, Gleddoch is aiming to be restored as one of the foremost luxury hotels in the region.

Harjeet Johal, director of Gleddoch, says: “The hotel has had such an illustrious past, and it is our firm intention to proudly celebrate its heritage whilst creating a hotel that will be known for its design, location, individuality and service. With this hotel, we intend to pioneer the design concept of chic country house, in that the property will be a harmonious fusion of history, modernity and style.”

After work started in September, the hotel’s spa and leisure facilities are being transformed, as well enhancements to the golf course and event spaces taking place.
