Gloucestershire nightspot could see new life as boutique hotel extension

A nightspot in Coleford, Gloucestershire could be transformed into 10 hotel bedrooms as owners of its neighbouring hotel submit plans for an extension project.

Owners of the 17th century Angel Hotel are aiming to expand into the current Magnums night club, which used to be an old stable block before the bar moved in during the 1980s.

Given a drop in visitors and little investment going into Magnums over the last decade, the application from the C&D Partnership states that the club in its current state is unviable.

If given the go ahead, the project would see the old bar ripped out and windows reinstalled, while the courtyard would become walled gardens for three of the rooms.

The owners say that the extension would help create jobs, boost tourism and provide the best way of safeguarding one of the Forest’s most well-known historic buildings.
