Yorkshire-based Goldsborough Hall, formerly the Royal Residence, has announced the appointment of a Hungarian chef to head up its on-site fine dining establishment.
The privately-owned stately home has welcomed Adam Thur to the role of head chef.
Hungarian-born and raised Thur joins the team from The Star Inn the City and The Star Inn at Harome, where he was senior sous chef. Thur also held the position of head chef at York University where he worked on high-profile events attended by royal guests and other VIPs.
“With Adam now on board, we aim to elevate the dining experience to the highest level, complementing the Hall’s Royal heritage,” said owner of Goldsborough Hall, Mark Oglesby. “We wish to delight our guests with dishes which exemplify a fresh, modern look at Yorkshire produce, enjoyed in a most spectacular setting.”
Thur added: “Goldsborough is a wonderfully inspiring and friendly place to work. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to develop creative menus, inspired by such an amazing rural location. I am lucky to have the kitchen gardens here too….you simply can’t beat your own produce, fresh from the garden.”
Thur’s menu focuses on local produce as well as home-grown fruit, herbs and vegetables.
Goldsborough Hall is owned by Mark and Clare Oglesby and is home to 12 bedrooms, with both residential and non-residential diners encouraged in the restaurant.
