Percy Wood

Percy Wood Golf and Country Club has been sold in a £16m deal.

The 180-acre site set in Morpeth Nothumberland has been acquired by Harrison Leisure UK, who describes it as a ‘crucial element’ in the company’s growth plans going forward.

The site is said to be one of the North East’s premier holiday destinations and is home to 500 holiday home pitches, an 18-hole golf course and also comes with planning consent for further development.

Percy Wood has been sold by Shorewood Leisure Group, which will now focus on expanding its portfolio in Yorkshire, with funds ‘readily available’ to acquire new parks.

The acquisition takes Harrison Leisure’s portfolio of holiday parks up to five.

Commenting on the deal, head of UK parks agency for Colliers International, Richard Moss, said: “The demand for quality parks of this size and trading capability remains very high. The deal was brokered in a discreet fashion between two experienced and respected park operators and it was no surprise that Percy Wood Golf & Country Park fitted the ambitious growth plans of Harrison Leisure UK.”

Billy Harrison, director of Harrison Leisure UK added: “We are delighted to secure this acquisition which will provide a crucial element in our growth plans going forwards. This extends our portfolio of holiday parks to five and counting which in tandem with our rapidly expanding caravan sales dealership makes for an exciting future for the company.”
