Gosforth boutique hotel reveals £50k café expansion as part of series of ambitious developments

The owner of a boutique hotel in Gosforth has revealed plans for a new £50k café restaurant expansion, as part of a series of planned developments at the property.

The Townhouse, a modern 10-bedroom hotel owned by Sheila Armstrong, will start work on a new Victorian-style café, The Blue Room, which will aim to provide an all-day dining experience for guests.

Armstrong took over the hotel in 2008 and initially invested £300k into transforming the property into a chic boutique.

Now The Blue Room will kick start a series of planned future developments at The Townhouse, which will include the addition of five bedrooms, plus ambitions for a similar boutique hotel elsewhere on Tyneside.

Armstrong said: “The Blue Room will see three new jobs initially created with a further two in the next 12 months. It has seen a further investment in local firms who undertook the £50,000 refurbishment.
