Christie & Co has completed on the sale of The Eagles Hotel, a Grade-II listed, 16-bedroom hotel in Conwy Valley to a first time hospitality buyer.
The hotel has been sold by Rupert and Rhonda Stevens, who have owned the property since 2013, to Gurnek Singh, whose previous experience lies within the construction industry.
Singh now plans to invest in increasing the F&B side of the business over the ‘coming years’.
The imposing hotel is situated in village of Llanrwst on the banks of the River Conwy, near to Snowdonia National Park and the popular tourist resort of Betws Y Coed and benefits from significant tourist trade throughout the year.
The original building dates back to 1750 and, in keeping with its history, the hotel offers guests a combination of both period features and modern amenities.
A more recent extension has been added which serves as a single storey function room, complementing the hotel’s existing bars and restaurant.
Previous owners, Rupert and Rhonda Stevens bought The Eagles Hotel six years ago from receivers, and since then they have managed an extensive refurbishment program whilst developing the busy bars, restaurant and letting rooms side of the business.
Gurnek Singh says: “Though my experience up until now is within the construction industry, I was attracted to The Eagles Hotel by its fantastic location and excellent management. It provides a strong foundation for growth, and I plan to increase revenues over the coming years by gradually increasing the food & beverage side of the business.”
Tom O’Malley, senior business agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments: “We’re delighted to have helped Rupert and Rhonda find a buyer for their business. High quality and unique properties such as The Eagles Hotel continue to attract significant interest from the market and the incoming operator has numerous opportunities to take the business forward. We wish Gurnek all the best for the future.”
The Eagles Hotel was sold on a freehold basis off an asking price of £1,000,000.
