A hotel in Scotland near Gretna Green is preparing for expansion after securing a funding boost from Barclays.
Springkell House, which is owned by the Johnson-Ferguson family, will use the £650k investment to redevelop the hotel and add six new bedrooms, taking the total bedroom count to 26.
James Johnson-Ferguson has been the owner of Springkell House since 2009 and has since relaunched the Dumfriesshire property after a substantial refurbishment programme, which has seen a boost in popularity.
The bank said the hotel was looking to build on this success with further expansion.
Johnson-Ferguson said: “Since we started offering private events, we’ve seen the venue grow in popularity and we now host lots of weddings throughout the year.”
Stuart Brown, head of small and medium-sized enterprise banking in Scotland for Barclays, said: “Springkell’s owners have a clear vision for the future and we are pleased to be able to support them with their expansion and redevelopment plans.
“The hospitality sector in Scotland is buoyant and we are working with a growing number of businesses like Springkell.”
