Bespoke Hotels has revealed plans to transform a city-centre landmark into the “sexiest hotel in Europe”.
The company’s chairman Robin Sheppard told Manchester Evening News that the group would convert the former Midland Bank headquarters at 100 King Street into a hotel modelled on Japanese guesthouses and Tuscan villas.
Hotel Gotham will be located in the upper six floors of the building, which was designed by Victorian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, and is slated to open in 2015.
The boutique hotel will feature 60 rooms, a restaurant, a rooftop garden and a private members’ bar. Four £300-a-night suites will include private ‘indoor gardens’, according to the newspaper report.
The ground and basement floors of 100 King Street are currently home to a Jamie’s Italian restaurant.
