Luxury Pembrokeshire hotel, Grove of Narberth, has announced the appointment of a new general manager following a recent search.
The 26-bedroom, four-AA-red-star property, part of The Seren Collection headed up by Neil and Zoe Kedward, will welcome Thomas Agius Ferrante to the role of general manager in February, replacing Louise Lewis who will move to a leadership role at Routescape, a tailor-made travel company launched by the group late last year.
Agius Ferrante joins from The Phoenicia in Malta where he was hotel manager. Prior to this he held management roles at One Aldwych and The Berkeley where he spent seven years as food & beverage operations manager.
Commencing his role in early February, Agius Ferrante will also sit on the management board for the Seren Collection, which includes Grove of Narberth, Coast Restaurant in Saundersfoot and Beach House Restaurant in Oxwich.
Managing director Neil Kedward says: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have found Thomas. He is a true career hotel professional with a fabulous management pedigree working in world class hotel venues widely respected for their levels of customer service. Grove of Narberth is a food-led venue and so his strong F&B background and sincere interest in food at this level clearly set him apart. Thomas is a warm personality, hugely intelligent and loves change. This together with his demonstrable grasp of the numbers and the commercial reality of what we do means that he is perfectly equipped for the many challenges of a modern hotelier. Thomas is the right individual at the right time to take us confidently into the future.”
Ferrante says: “I am really excited to be joining the Grove, a beautiful hotel in a stunning part of the world. It is a marvellous opportunity to work with the excellent team at the Grove to continue to deliver Zoe and Neil’s vision for this wonderful, warm and individual property.”
Grove of Narberth has held 4 AA Red Stars and 3 AA Rosettes for its acclaimed Fernery Restaurant lead by executive head chef Allister Barsby since 2014.
The latest project at the hotel opened in spring 2018, with the ground floor including the restaurant, bar, lounge and reception spaces being completely refurbished as part of a £300k makeover.
