Despite closing its businesses this week as per government advice, Hand Picked Hotels is driving community spirit in its local neighbourhoods during Covid-19 by organising special care packages for the NHS and hospice workers.
On Mother’s Day last weekend, a handful of the group’s hotels around the country donated food items to those working at local care homes and hospitals, saying it was ‘the least we could do’.
At Woodlands Park Hotel in Surrey, executive head chef John Stephens and operations manager donated all food items from Mother’s Day preparations to all 50 residents at the Hartfield House care home in Leatherhead.
NHS staff at the Ellen Badger Hospital in Shipton received gateaux and afternoon tea from Ettington Park Hotel in Warwickshire, while the head chef from Chilston Park Hotel in Kent made a special delivery to Chippendayle Lodge care home of Hand Picked boxes filled with scones, clotted cream, jam and pastries plus other produce items for all 46 residents.
100 cream teas were delivered to Leighton Hospital for the NHS staff from Rookery Hall Hotel in Nantwich, while individual packages filled with scones and a couple of sweet treats where given to those in urgent care at St Cross Hospital from Fawsley Hall Hotel.
