Grade-II listed, three-star Haycock Hotel Wansford in Cambridgeshire has been brought to market with an asking price of £1.4m for the long leasehold interest through Christie + Co.
The 48-bedroom hotel has been owned by Judith Carter since 2003 and operated by Macdonald Hotels, with Carter deciding to sell in order to concentrate on ‘other things’.
Haycock Hotel is set in 10 acres of grounds on the River Nene and comprises a 16th century former coaching inn, which has been refurbished and extended over the years.
The property is home to 48 bedrooms, bar and dining areas, as well as a business centre and function room for 300 covers.
Tim Gooding, director at Christie & Co’s Ipswich office is handling the sale and comments: “The Haycock is one of the best known hotels throughout the region – its iconic status, history and scale will undoubtedly attract interest from across the market, whether private or mid-market operators or private investors looking for a flagship operation. We are already seeing interest being expressed and would encourage any parties to make contact with us as soon as they can!”
