High Street Hospitality plans £1m ‘wedding venue transformation’ of newest acquisition

The new owners of a hotel in Teeside are bidding to transform the property into a leading wedding venue with a £1m investment.

High Street Hospitality, part of the Newcastle-based High Street Group of Companies, is ploughing the money into its newest acquisition, Parkmore Hotel, after taking over the hotel earlier this month.

The hotel, which was originally built in 1896, will retain the Parkmore name but the renovation will see the function and spa facilities upgraded, all 55 bedrooms refreshed and a new bar and restaurant concept introduced.

Work is due to start early next year.

High Street Hospitality managing director Phill Brumwell said: “We are delighted to add the historic Parkmore Hotel to our growing portfolio.

“It is a fantastic hotel and leisure facility in a superb location and excellent transport links too many of the region’s business and tourist destinations. We are investing significantly to create a venue of exceptional standards.”

High Street Hospitality has a plan to build or acquire 15 to 20 hotels across the North over the next 10 years.

It currently has a number of hotels and restaurants on Tyneside, Wearside and County Durham.
