The four-star Hilton Hotel at Victoria Quays in Sheffield is to close its doors in December after 20 years in operation.
The hotel beside the canal basin to due to close on December 15, resulting in more than 100 job losses.
Hilton has managed the property since 1999 on behalf of the leaseholder Park Victoria Quays Lessee Ltd, which had decided to surrender its lease.
A spokeswoman for the hotel chain told local press that the building had been a hotel since 1997 and the current management agreement between Park Victoria Quays and Hilton dated from 2017.
She said the hotel has around 100 permanent staff, who were informed last week, and Hilton was working closely with them to ‘understand their best options’.
She also stressed that the hotel’s closure was in ‘no way linked’ to Hilton’s operation of the hotel.
Hilton Sheffield has 128 bedrooms, plus a spa and fitness centre and is also home to the Quays Restaurant and includes meeting rooms in the arches beside the canal basin.
