Peter de Savary and his wife Lana have submitted an application to develop nine new suites on the site of The Beachcroft Hotel in Bognor Regis.

The couple, who have owned Beachcroft for more than 35 years old, will invest £2m in the new project, which could see nine luxury new Gill Point Suites on the Beach created on land opposite the front of the hotel.

The design of the building would see a modern glass front offer views out to sea along the Felpham promenade.

The plans have been designed by Ivon Blumer Architects, who said the new suites would be an ‘icon’ statement’ and form part of Bognor’s future regeneration.

Adjacent to the three-star Beachcroft Hotel, the large residential seafront house Old Gun Post will also be given a refurbishment as part of the project.

The application says:  “The de Savarys are committed to supporting the local economy with this modern, well designed, forward thinking investment at The Beachcroft Hotel.

“The Old Gun Post, another important iconic building on the seafront, with its sweeping curved roof, is to be refurbished as a state-of-the-art ancillary residential accommodation for the Beachcroft Hotel.”

The application was submitted to Arun District Council’s planning department on October 26 and has just been validated.
