Hotel development project at Liverpool ONE edges closer as operator and name are unveiled

The hotel development at Liverpool ONE is set to begin this spring, with a new operator and name announced.

Work to create a new hotel in Liverpool ONE will kick off in a few months’ time, with Hope Street Hotel Ltd brought in to operate the new School Lane Hotel.

As part of a joint venture with YPG Developments Ltd, the hotel is situated in the Russell Building on the corner of School Lane and Peter’s Lane and will comprise 50 bedrooms, a restaurant, gym, conference facilities and a rooftop bar.

Plans were first unveiled for the new hotel in August 2018, as YPG Developments searched for an operator to take on the project.

Hope Street Hotel Ltd is owned by David Brewitt, who opened Hope Street Hotel in 2003. The company also owns The London Carriage Works.

Work on the new School Lane Hotel is scheduled for completion in early 2020.

Brewitt says: “These are exciting plans that will deliver a high-quality hotel in one of the most popular cities for tourism in the UK.

“In the last 10 years, Liverpool’s visitor economy has expanded by 66% and Liverpool ONE is at the heart of that growth.

“Its reputation for the quality of its offer and the experience it provides for visitors create the perfect setting for School Lane Hotel, a landmark sister destination to Hope Street Hotel.”

Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor Europe, adds: “We are delighted that Hope Street Hotel has been confirmed as the operator, given their reputation for delivering exemplary service and providing such a high-quality experience for guests.

“School Lane Hotel is another exciting addition to Liverpool ONE’s unique offer.”
