Hotel Indigo in Coventry looks set to become first new four-star hotel in city for 50 years

A project to bring a new Hotel Indigo to fruition in Coventry looks set to get the green light this week.

Castlebridge Group has submitted a plan for a five-storey hotel in Friargate, which would including 100 bedrooms, a restaurant, bar and mini gym.

If given the go ahead, the four-star hotel would be the first in the city centre for almost 50 years, and work would be begin at the start of next year with an aim to be completed during the City of Culture 2021.

The cost of the project is said to be around £20m, with the new business creating 42 full-time jobs and 21 part-time roles.

A ground-level bar would be created as part of the plan, as well as a ‘signature restaurant’ with up to 100 covers.

A decision is to be made on the proposal on Thursday December 19.
