Hotels go the extra mile to keep Mother’s Day special

Hotels across the country stepped up their offering on Sunday to ensure families could still enjoy Mother’s Day whilst exercising social distancing.

The five-AA-red-star Rockliffe Hall in Darlington provided locals with a takeaway afternoon tea option, available for guests who were hoping to visit the venue to celebrate Mothering Sunday at the weekend.

The afternoon tea, which is usually enjoyed in the hotel’s 4 AA Rosette Orangery restaurant, came with all the trimmings, including teas, sandwiches and cakes.

Available upon request for those living in the Bootham area, the hotel will deliver special Mother’s Day Treat Boxes for those celebrating over the next few days, available to order until 29 March.

All boxed up to be served at home, it will feature sweet and savoury treats from its usual afternoon tea menu including a variety of cakes, scones served with cream and jam, smoked salmon sandwiches, and a choice of speciality teas.
