The Hydro Hotel in Windermere has unveiled its new restaurant and bar, which marks the completion of the first phase of a £1m makeover at the property.
The 78-bed hotel, which is part of Squire Hotels, has now opened 1881 Restaurant and Bar in what is described as ‘another piece of The Hydro jigsaw complete’ by operations director Jodi Masterson.
The project has seen the restaurant given a completely new look, with the features of a historic stain glass window, which is already part of the hotel, featuring colours and birds to create a luxury Hydro Fabric.
The restaurant, which is open to both hotel guests and members of the public, will specialise in serving local, British cuisine and will be open from breakfast until late evening.
Jodi Masterson, operations director at Squire Hotels, said: “We’re delighted with the menu and we feel there’s an option for everyone. The restaurant was part of the hotel’s extensive renovations and the feedback we have received has been superb. It’s certainly an exciting time to be a part of The Hydro.”
Overlooking Lake Windermere, the hotel was originally an 81-bedroom establishment but work saw rooms knocked together to offer bigger rooms to guests and reduce the number of bedrooms to 78.
