Olga and Alex Polizzi’s newest joint venture in Sussex has quickly become one of the biggest talking points of the year. The Star at Alfriston in Sussex was acquired by the dynamic duo late last year and after a complete renovation, the Grade-II listed hotel will reopen as a 30-bedroom hotel and restaurant this summer, and operate as the third property in The Polizzi Collection.
Olga, the renowned interior designer, hotelier and director of design for Rocco Forte Hotels and daughter, Alex, the presenter of Channel 5’s, The Hotel Inspector, admitted that they had been on the hunt for a new venture ‘for ages’ before settling on The Star, which was once owned by Olga’s father and Alex’s grandfather, Lord Forte, who created the Trust House Forte group and is situated in the same village where Olga and her husband live.
It’s been fifteen years since Olga and Alex worked together, having opened Hotel Endsleigh together back in 2005, which Alex subsequently managed for a few years following. The Devon hotel was the second to be launched by Olga and joined Hotel Tresanton which lead the boutique hotel resurgence on the Cornish coast when it opened in the summer of 1998.
Once The Star opens, The Polizzi Collection will be born.
