Peter Banks started his career as a Savoy Management Trainee and regards his role in hospitality, not as a job or career – more a way of life.
Over the last 24 years, during Peter’s leadership at Rudding Park, the business has seen consistent, organic growth from 15 employees and £1.5M turnover to 350 employees and £21M turnover. This has been driven by developments totalling £26m, funded on the open market so there is no room for management error.
One of Peter’s strengths is responding quickly to external forces and adapting and innovating to ensure the continued success of the business. A skilled, charismatic and engaging communicator, Peter is respected by his team and loved by guests.
The wellbeing of his team is a priority and Peter has introduced initiatives to support motivation and retention including; flexible working, the introduction of optional service charge – 100% of which goes directly to the team, Mental Health First Aid courses and weekly yoga sessions.
Corporate Social Responsibility is also a high priority including the introduction of the Rudding Park Volunteer Scheme to initiatives supporting the business being carbon neutral by 2025.
